ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – This weekend, July 20-21, anyone needing to visit the Athens-Limestone Hospital will find two of the facility’s regular entrances closed.

That’s because workers will be installing new automatic doors.

Currently, there are two sets of doors at the Sanders Street and Market Street entrances.

Each set will be replaced with one set of automatic doors which will open as a person approaches the door.

Hospital staff say the changes are most needed for patients and staff.

“That’s to help our customers, our guests, our patients get in and out of the hospital more easily, more safely,” said Betsy Harris, the hospital’s Development Director.

The entrances will be shut down one at a time.  The Sanders Street entrance will be closed Saturday from 8:30a to 4:00p.  The Market Street entrance will be closed Sunday from 8:30a to 4:00p.

The emergency room and admissions entrances will not be affected by the work.
Patients who are discharged will leave through one of those two entrances.
