FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - Florence Police say a son taking care of his dying mother's estate became the victim of a thief.
Surveillance cameras caught the suspect grabbing the man’s wallet filled with thousands of dollars and important documents.
According to police, as the conducted business inside the Florence Government Building he sets his wallet off to the side, but when he's finished, he walks off without it.
Then, the next customer comes to the window. That woman isn't the suspect, but police believe she may play an important role in cracking this case.
That's because as the customer interacts with the clerk, someone she knows walks up. In a matter of seconds, the suspect picks up the wallet, and puts it in her purse.
According to Florence Police, the wallet had up to $5,000 in cash, because the victim was handling his mother's accounts.
If you can help the victim get his cash back, it could be worth a cash reward to you.
