1985: Huntsville Stars Move to Joe Davis Stadium

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – In 1985, the Huntsville Stars moved into the new Joe Davis Stadium. During the Stars' first season, the baseball team won the Southern League Championship.

The stadium is named after former Huntsville City Mayor Joe W. Davis, who led the construction of the 10,000 seat stadium. The stadium continues to host the Southern League minor league baseball team. The team is named after Huntsville's involvement in the space industry.
