Lawrence County $65K Short On Meeting This Week’s Payroll
MOULTON, Ala. (WHNT) – Lawrence County is “broke” — commissioners said so themselves at a meeting in late June.
The situation hasn’t improved, either. Thursday, WHNT News 19 learned the commission is short $65,000 on making this week’s payroll. This, according to Commissioner Bobby Burch.
Burch said the county plans to borrow money from other accounts to meet this week’s payroll, which comes from the county’s general fund. Burch said the county is still negotiating with a local bank to borrow $400,000 to get them through the rest of this fiscal year.
