Sheriff: Key Players in Shoals Heroin Supply Nabbed
MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A routine traffic stop on Hwy 157 resulted in the discovery of a large amount of heroin on Monday.
Sheriff Ana Franklin reported that patrol deputies stopped a 2008 Cadillac STS on Hwy 157. K-9 deputies assisted in the stop and were able to locate a large quantity of heroin in the car.
The Morgan County Drug Task Force responded to the scene and seized double the amount of heroin required for trafficking charge standards in Alabama. The street value of the heroin is around $2,400.
John Wesley Akin, 25, and David Ros, 27, were both arrested for trafficking in illegal drugs. The Morgan County Drug Task Force also seized the Cadillac, worth approximately $30,000.
The Morgan County Drug Task Force believes that deputies arrested key players in the heroin supply chain to the Shoals area.
