HARVEST, Ala. (WHNT) – For Birdie Ferguson, a Summer shower is welcome, but not an all day downpour. Thursday, her front lawn was overtaken by rushing waters, caused by an overflowing drainage ditch.
Gravel from her neighbors driveway was washed into her garden. Flowers and plants were destroyed.
“I put about $200 into my garden,” said Birdie. “I am 71 years old, but I put in hard work – I love this garden.”
Vandiver told WHNT News 19 he had been surveying flooded areas across his district all day. He says he would be more than happy to meet with residents with flooding problems to see if a solution can be reached.
