Water Conservation Requested for Parts of East Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities is requesting that water customers that live in neighborhoods east of the Monte Sano/Green Mountain area to not run their yard irrigation systems until Thursday of this week.
Repairs to a major water main that supplies water to this area failed overnight, requiring crews to take the main out of service today. This main being out reduces water capacity to this area by 25 percent.
Repairs are expected to be completed on Tuesday night, but full water capacity will not be restored until Wednesday afternoon.
Residents are asked to not irrigate lawns until Thursday so that there will be an adequate supply of water for home use and fire protection.
There are no requests for water conservation in other parts of Huntsville Utilities’ service area.
