UPDATE: Hartselle PD Arrests Escaped Inmate

Hartselle, Ala. (WHNT) – Hartselle Police arrested the man who escaped from custody by slipping his handcuffs Tuesday afternoon.

Lt. James Hollladay of the Hartselle Police Department was off duty and spotted 26-year-old Rocky Alton Hood in the same area where he had escaped in Danville.  Holladay cornered Hood and waited for backup.

A Morgan County canine unit was deployed and arrested Hood just after 6:30 p.m.

Hood is now charged with Escape 3rd.  The charge is a felony.

Hood was arrested in Hartselle for outstanding warrant from Lawrence County on Tuesday afternoon.  A Hartselle jailer transported Hood to meet with Lawrence County Deputies.

When the jailer met up with deputies at Danville High School for the hand-off, Hood was able to slip his handcuffs and escape from the jailer.

Several agencies including Hartselle police, Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies, and State Troopers searched for Hood, but could not find him
