Update: Teams Find Body of Missing UA Student Along Warrior River
BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. – Teams have found the body of a 19-year-old girl along the Warrior River in Blount County.
Blount County EMA Director Max Armstrong said Allysa Huffstutler’s body was found about a mile downstream from where she went missing on Wednesday afternoon. Armstrong said a helicopter team saw her.
She was rafting with some friends, but lost her raft near a rough section of the river. Law enforcement agencies, dive teams and friends and volunteers have been looking for her since then.
Teams focused their effort near a rough section of the Locust Fork River, part of the larger Warrior River, near Cleveland.
The section where Huffstutler went under is where water rushes under a large rock, creating Class 2/3 whitewater. It is a popular section for rafters and kayakers.
Huffstutler lived in Blountsville and attended the University of Alabama. Here is more of WHNT News 19′s coverage of the search.Submit Your Photo
