CNN - A child born completely deaf is getting a chance to hear the sound of a bird singing for the very first time, all thanks to a device that looks like a sweat band.
Until three weeks ago, Grayson Clamp had no idea how what that bird sounded like. It's a thrill for his parents, Nicole and Len Clamp, to witness.
Grayson's device uses a microchip on his brain to compute the sound.
Grayson’s device still needs fine tuning. His brain is still trying to organize itself to use sound. His speech is delayed, so there is still work to do.
The installation was a groundbreaking procedure at UNC Hospitals.
