Man on Probation Goes Back to Jail
DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – A man on probation for firearms is back behind bars.
At about 7:30 Sunday night, police arrested Jyasiel Devante Hampton after receiving a call about a large fight near the intersection of 5th Avenue and 4th Street.
When officers arrived, they saw about 100 people fighting in the baseball fields’ parking lot. They detained Hampton after he gave them a false name. After searching him, they found a pistol with the serial number scratched off.
They learned the gun had been stolen just five days before. Hampton was already on probation in Decatur for wrongful discharge of a firearm within city limits.
Now, he’s also charged with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and receiving stolen property.
