HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The $100 million Twickenham Square development is well underway, with some developers expecting to be open for business as early as next January.

Rain has delayed some of the progress, but developers are getting back on schedule.

"When you`re just trying to get out of the ground when it rains you`re out for several days. But now we`re just down while it`s raining," said Tom Hunt, President of PHD Hotels, the developers building Homewood Suites.

They are currently framing the third floor of the four-story, 101 room hotel. They expect to be open by January, and taking reservations a few months before that.

Unlike PHD Hotels' previous Huntsville area projects, Hunt says the development has called for coordination between the slew of developers and the City of Huntsville.

Despite initial setbacks, the project has been moving steadily along. the Bristol Development Group has been coordinating the businesses that will fill the 23,000 square feet of retail space. Though, they are not yet ready to release the what shops may be filling the space.

Bristol is also building Twickenham Square`s Artisan Apartments, which are also expected to be finished by next January or February.
