HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Emergency medical calls in Hartselle are being answered by a different ambulance service as of today.
Crossroads EMS took over Hartselle’s ambulance service contract at 8:00 A.M. Monday morning. By mid-day, the company had responded to three emergency calls for help. City officials say the transition has been very smooth.
“First day here it’s going really good,” company owner Candi Hayes told WHNT News 19. She added, “We’re running a few calls here and there but it seems to be going pretty good. Transition’s smooth and we’re out there running calls.”
Crossroads was one of several companies that applied for the contract several weeks ago after the former company had several of their ambulances repossessed. County EMS got the vehicles back, but concerns about the company’s stability led city officials to invite other companies to apply for the exclusive agreement.
Crossroads is scheduled to take over as Falkville’s primary ambulance service provider next Monday.
