Man Dies After Train Hits His Truck in Falkville
MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The driver of a pickup truck died after he was hit by a train on Friday.
It happened just after 11 a.m. in Falkville at the crossing on East 2nd Street, at North 1st Avenue.
Police say the man tried to drive across the tracks, even though signal lights and bells were on as the train moved closer.
The man in the truck, O.B. Owens, was thrown from the vehicle. He was flown to Huntsville Hospital by Air Evac, where he died.
Police say a metal rod also apparently flew from the back of the truck from the impact. That rod flew across the street through a glass window of the Falkville Fire Department, which was just near the collision. No one inside was hurt.
