Shoals Groomer Mix-Up Resolved; Dogs Returned
FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – After 9 agonizing days of worry and heartache for Tami Rudolph, her Maltese, Bailey is back.
WHNT News 19 was there to capture the moment the dog at the center of this groomer mix-up was finally reunited with his family.
Rudolph burst through the door of Debbie’s Tidy Dog, Wednesday evening.
“Oh, thank you so much,” Rudolph said to the woman who had been taking care of Bailey.
It’s the moment Rudolph has been waiting for since her puppy went missing. “Oh Mama’s glad to see you, yes,” she cooed to the puppy in her arms.
But for the woman who had Bailey, Hattie Jackson, this was an exchange, she never expected.
“My husband noticed the dog wasn`t the right dog,” laughed Jackson. “He said, ‘This is not Colby,’ I said, ‘Yes it is, just be quiet, this is Colby,’ relayed Jackson.
When Jackson dropped off her dog, Colby, the groomer didn’t get a phone number for the woman. After days of trying to find Jackson, Debbie Watkins says she finally put a sign out front. It was the sign that got Jackson to stop by.
“Oh, there`s no way to say how relieved I am, I`m just on top of the world,” said Watkins, owner of Debbie’s Tidy Dog. “I just say my thank you’s to God that he answered my prayers.”
Watkins reports waterproof collars have been ordered, so the dogs can have identification the entire time they’re at the groomer.
