HOLLY POND, Ala. (WHNT) — A child was killed in a car crash Monday evening, one day shy of her first birthday. It happened just before 6:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 278 in Holly Pond. According to Alabama State Troopers, two passenger vehicles and a wrecker were involved in the crash.
Troopers identify the victim as Sophia Johnson of Hanceville. The child’s mother, Jasmine Johnson, was driving. She was injured along with a second child in the vehicle. Troopers say Sophia Johnson’s first birthday would have been today, June 11.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
