Suspected Burglars Lead Sheriffs on High Speed Chase
LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Two men who police suspect of attempting to break into a business led police on a high speed chase.
Around 2 p.m. on Friday, Lawrence County deputies responded to a call of someone trying to break into a business. When deputies arrived, they found someone inside the back of the business. When a deputy approached one of the suspects, the suspect tried to run the deputy over with his vehicle.
The suspect and another man fled in a pickup truck, leading authorities on a high speed chase for about 10 miles on Hwy 24. The driver of the truck sideswiped at least two vehicles during the chase, according to deputies.
The chase ended after the truck went down a gravel driveway in a field on County Rd. 222 in the Trinity area. The two men jumped out of the truck and escaped on foot.
Authorities reportedly know the identities of the men in the truck but ahve not released their identities. For now, the truck has been impounded and a search is on for the two men.
Multiple law agencies are working together on this case.
