Android users can now join in the mini-video madness! Twitter is launching an Android-version of Vine, an app that allows users to capture and share 6-second looping videos. The videos can be shared in-app or through Twitter – where they can be viewed within tweets.
The tool debuted for Apple’s iOS months ago and since then has attracted 13 million users.
The Android version of Vine has many of the same capabilities of the iOS edition. There’s video creation with playback and sound, as well as an “Explore” feature for discovering popular posts and to see what’s trending. There’s also a “Find Friends” tool to invite others into the conversation.
Twitter has added one unique feature for Android – zoom.
According to CNET, the company does however, seem to be “girding itself for some bugginess.” There will be frequent updates with “new features over the coming weeks — including front-facing camera, search, mentions and hashtags, and the ability to share to Facebook — as well as bug fixes and performance improvements.”
