GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Investigators said a man shot early Friday morning is recovering from non-life threatening injuries at Huntsville Hospital. Meanwhile, four people are now charged with attempted murder.
Prosecutors said Max Lee Blair, Jarmare Demon Mathis, Keisha Leann Price, and Willis Steve Pointer, Jr., are charged with the attempted murder of John Wesley Marks.
“It appears there may have been some plan or some premeditation to the act, that the individuals may have come into the neighborhood for that purpose,” Marshall County assistant district attorney Chris Abel said Friday afternoon.
A Guntersville police officer on patrol around 1:30 a.m. heard gunshots near the intersection of Carlisle Avenue and Williamson Street and went to investigate.
Detectives said the officer stopped a vehicle in the area and found four people inside and took them into custody for questioning. Shortly after noon Friday, they charged all of them with attempted murder, and Judge Mitch Floyd set their bonds at $500,000 each.
“We know that there was at least one shooter, and believe there may have been more. In this case there were four individuals in the vehicle and all those people can be charged as conspirators or accomplices just because of their proximity and the fact that there was shooting from the car at the individual who was injured,” Abel said.
Paramedics first took the victim to Marshall Medical Center North, and then to Huntsville Hospital for additional treatment. Detectives questioned him there Friday morning.
Guntersville police investigators said they are trying to determine if the shooting may be connected to another incident in Albertville that also involved the firing of a gun.
“There’s some link to that I believe, but we just can’t say for certain,” Abel said.
Albertville Police Chief Doug Pollard said there was a home invasion Thursday night at the Malibu Apartments at the intersection of Highway 205 and Edmondson Street.
Pollard said two intruders went into one of the apartment units and fired one shot. The person with the firearm hit the victim in the head with the handle of the gun and ran off.
Albertville police said it appears the intruders got away with $5.
