Huntsville, Ala. (WHNT) - The Alabama Hammers are trying to knock some rust off. They've had three bye weeks in the last month.
While the team scheduled back-to-back bye weeks, an issue with the Louisiana Swashbucklers' arena caused the third break.
But Dean Cokinos and company say the competition in practice will suit them well come game-time.
"You always want to come out and compete against someone else, you see your teammates each and every day, but we feel like we have the best offense and defense so we feel like we are going against the best everyday in practice so that helps us go out in the game and go for 4 quarters and be sharp," said Charles McClain, Hammers wide receiver and defensive back.
"You hate to have one game in a month but it is what it is," said Dean Cokinos, Hammers head coach. "I think we have done a good job of spacing it out and getting some good work in the bye week so I don't think it's going to affect us."
The Hammers welcome the Swashbucklers at 7:00 Saturday night at the Von Braun Center.
