Chandler Brock Collects First Team All-American Honors
Huntsville, Ala. – Receiving his first two of what looks like many All-American honors this season, University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball player Chandler Brock has earned Daktronics First Team All-American honors and ABCA All-American accolades.
Brock earning All-American honors from Daktronics was an automatic honor following his Daktronics South Region Player of the Year recognition on May 16. The sophomore was also named ABCA South Region Player of the Year, helping him to land on the First Team All-American list. Brock also earned NCBWA South Player of the Year and Gulf South Conference Player of the Year this season.
He has become a household name in the world of Division II and especially for UAH, and rightfully so. In terms of individual accomplishments, Brock has had as good a season as any student-athlete in school history.
The native of Athens, Ala., ranked near the top or led the region in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.432), on base percentage (.492), slugging percentage (.577), runs (43), hits (69) and stolen bases (24). Anchoring the heart of the UAH lineup, Brock helped lead UAH to a national ranking and a historic-best No. 4 in the country.
Brock becomes the first player in UAH baseball history to earn First Team All-American honors. Even more impressive, he may wind up taking home a total of three All-American awards as the NCBWA and ABCA still have yet to release their All-American teams.
The D2SIDA All-America Baseball teams are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association. Daktronics has sponsored the baseball All-America program since 2007.
