Normal, Ala. (WHNT) - After 14 years with Alabama A&M football, Anthony Jones got a one-year contract from newly-minted Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks.  The Bulldog AD decided to keep the length at one season because he may not have had enough time necessary for a thorough evaluation.

Now, Hicks has been on the Hill for a year and has made two significant coaching decisions, removing the interim tag from baseball coach Michael Tompkins' title and hiring women's basketball coach Semeka Randall.

Eventually, Hicks will talk to Jones about his contract and Hicks says he's optimistic about the negotiations.

"He's done a lot of great things, there's no arguing with that," said Bryan Hicks, Alabama A&M director of athletics.  "We'll just have to wait and see how things will go but Coach Jones and I have a great foundation, a good working relationship and it should go well, it should go well."
