Shriver Pleads Not Guilty To Attempted Homicide
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. (WHNT) – The man accused of firing shots at police officers and a sheriff’s deputy has pleaded not guilty. Joseph Shriver appeared in court in Lincoln County Tuesday morning.
Shriver is charged with attempted homicide, evading arrest and possession of a firearm. A Lincoln County grand jury indicted Shriver Tuesday morning, then, a short time later, he entered the not guilty plea.
In November of 2011, Madison County Sheriff’s deputy Brent Beavers spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle seen leaving a convenience store robbery. Beavers pulled the car over.
Authorities say Shriver got out and sprayed bullets, hitting Beavers in the face. Shriver allegedly sped off. Authorities say he then shot at two police officers in Fayetteville.
Shriver’s next court date is June 18.
