LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) -- The Appalachian Regional Commission and National Business Incubation Association were in the Shoals on Tuesday morning for a big announcement.
Members of the commission and association presented the crowd of city and business leaders with a new book, "The Best Practices of Rural Business Incubation."
The book is the result of many months of researching how to get a new business off the ground and make it successful.
"With larger companies, they gain jobs and they lose jobs," said Tracy Kitts with the National Business Incubation Association. "But, the net is about zero. Whereas these new ventures are what's really creating jobs in the local environment." Kitts said 87% of all businesses that graduate from a incubation facility go on to succeed in the business world.
