Power Restored In Southeast Huntsville After Wreck

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A wreck Monday night left a large portion of southeast Huntsville without power.

It happened just before 11 p.m. on the access road of South Memorial Parkway and L&N Drive.

According to Huntsville Police, the driver of a minivan ran off the road taking out a utility pole and small tree with him.  The driver was taken to Huntsville Hospital with minor injures.

Meanwhile, the wreck left hundreds of homes from Bob Wallace to Airport Road in the dark.

Huntsville Utilities workers had a major portion of the outage restored with in hour, but the utility pole had to be replaced.

Huntsville Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck.
