Hartselle, Ala. (WHNT) - The Hartselle baseball team has already made history in a lot of ways, like shortstop Brett Blackwood setting a state record for most hits in a season.

But history is commonplace in Hartselle.  The program already has seven state championships.  This weekend, they'll have a chance to earn an eighth if they can beat Spanish Fort in a best-of-three series.  That honor, the Tigers say, would be the greatest achievement of all.

"It would be great to add to the previous seven state championships," said Jackson Smith, Hartselle pitcher.  "You want to leave your legacy for the school and be remembered. We want to do it."

"That would be awesome, being on a board with your name next to everyone else that's won one here, it would be awesome," said Brett Blackwood, Hartselle shortstop.
