Huntsville, Ala. (WHNT) - Former Alabama linebacker Derrick Thomas has been on college football's hall of fame ballot for three years.

For the third-straight year, Thomas missed out.

The 1988 Butkus Award winner, who set a record for most sacks in a single season, is still being left out of the hall of fame.  Several Alabama fans don't like the result, including Nick Saban.

"In my opinion, Derrick deserves the opportunity to get in there," said Nick Saban, Alabama head coach.  "I don't know all the politics to voting but he's certainly one of the great players in Alabama history and certainly did a lot to contribute to the success our program has had and certainly deserves to be recognized by the college football hall of fame for it."
