Huntsville’s Dug Hill Road Will Close To Traffic Thursday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Weather permitting, all northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 431 between mile markers 328.5 and 329.2 will be open Thursday, May 9 following work to improve the intersection at Dug Hill Road.

As the project continues, Dug Hill Road will be closed May 9 and should reopen in late August. Traffic entering Dug Hill Road should follow the signed detour route. Additionally, median work will continue on U.S. 231.

Oversize loads must use alternate routes for the duration of the project.

The work zone speed limit of 45 mph will be heavily enforced.

Lane/road closures are necessary to make intersection improvements, including widening and installing additional lanes, on U.S. Highway 431 at Dug Hill Road in Huntsville.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. The Alabama Department of Transportaion thanks motorists for their patience during this construction to improve Alabama’s roadways.
