UAH Softball To Host NCAA South 2 Regional

Huntsville, Ala. – The NCAA Division II Softball Committee announced the 2013 NCAA Tournament field on Monday morning, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville earned the second seed in the South Regional and will host the South 2 Regional this weekend.

The tournament will begin on Friday, May 10 and last through Sunday, May 12. The team that stands alone on Sunday will advance to the NCAA South Super Regional which will be held the following weekend at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Joining second-seeded UAH at the NCAA South Region 2 site is No. 3 seed North Alabama, Barry from the Sunshine State Conference who owns the sixth seed, and seventh-seeded West Alabama. At the NCAA South Region 1 will be host and top-seed Valdosta State, fourth-seeded Tampa, No. 5 seed Saint Leo, and eighth-seeded Albany State.

This season the Chargers have played each of the three teams that will visit the Rocket City, and the team holds a 7-2 mark against the field. UAH took the lone game with Barry back at the UAH-hosted Charger Chillout, posted a season-series record of 4-1 against UNA, and went 2-1 against opening-round foe West Alabama.
