HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – In preparation for the annual WhistleStop Festival & Rocket City BBQ, the Huntsville Police Department will be closing several streets around the Historic Huntsville Depot in Downtown Huntsville.
The following road closing and opening schedule will be followed for the WhistleStop Festival to be held on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4.
Thursday, May 2 street closings
- The merge and right turn lanes of Jefferson St between the eastbound I-565 exit ramp and Monroe St. will be closed at 8:30 a.m.
- The outside (right hand) northbound land of Church Street from 100 feet south of Monroe St. to the railroad tracks will be closed at 8:30 a.m.
- Monroe St. between Church St. and Jefferson St. and Spragins St. between Monroe St. and Holmes Ave. will be closed at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday, May 5:
- All of the above listed streets will be reopened by 12:00 p.m.
The WhistleStop Festival will be open to the public on Friday, May 3 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturday, May 4 form 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m..
HPD encourages motorists to use caution when driving in the area during the festival due to heavy pedestrian traffic.
