Local Volunteer Firefighter Dies Under Unknown Circumstances
HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A local volunteer firefighter is dead after working a call about an explosion on Iron Man Road in Hartselle on Monday.
During a search of the area where the explosion was reported, Oak Ridge firefighter Dale Scott Queen, 37, of Hartselle, started to feel sick. He was removed to a staging area where his condition continued to worsen.
An ambulance responded and met him at Oak Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Station No. 1. Queen was pronounced dead at Decatur-Morgan Hospital at 4:42 p.m. on Monday, April 29.
There is no word on what caused Queen’s death or what caused the explosion.
Peck Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, May 3, from 6-9 p.m. The funeral with firefighter honors will be held Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
