Tuscumbia Police Confiscate 30 Stolen Guns, Two Men In Custody

Tuscumbia Police make a big bust and confiscate more than 30 stolen guns.

Two teenagers are behind bars for the crime.

Detectives say 19-year-old Shaun Michael Ryan and 19-year-old Joshua Tyler Kelley led police on a high speed chase early this morning.

When the suspects stopped, detectives found 30 stolen long guns, and 5 hand guns.  Several loaded guns were on the floorboard of the car.

According to Tuscumbia Police Chief, Tony Logan, the passenger of the car, Shaun Ryan, bailed out of the car and charged toward the responding officer.  The officer was able to get him under control and take him into custody.

A resident tipped off police about suspicious activity.  According to detectives the witness noticed the men trying to stuff something in to a car.  Police say the resident’s tip was vital to the successful resolution of this case.

“The two suspects have known criminal activities so the fact that they had this many guns, long guns and hand guns, and many of them were loaded, it’s obvious they were going to do something,” said Chief Logan. “It was a very big threat to law enforcement.”

Detectives believe the guns came from a residential burglary near Highway 72.
