RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A Franklin County woman has been arrested after police say her 2-year-old grandchild tested positive for cocaine.

Russellville Police have charged 38-year-old Deanna Leigh Fretwell with chemical endangerment of a child.  Police Chief Chris Hargett says his department made the arrest after the Alabama Department of Human Resources contacted them.

Hargett says Fretwell’s 2-year-old grandson was living with her.

Investigators say after the child tested positive for cocaine, Fretwell and others in the home were tested, and Deanna Fretwell’s results came back positive for cocaine.

DHR took the child into custody.

Fretwell has been released on bond from the Russellville City Jail.
