ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT)– The worldwide dental profession meet in Athens Monday to take a closer look at the Sarrell Dental Center.
Dental faculty from Harvard, Columbia, Penn, UCLA, among many others attended. Also in attendance was senior management from the internationally respected Pew Center for the States Dental Campaign, the CDC, the President of the California Dental Association, US military dental leaders, state dental directors and even dental leaders from as far away as New Zealand.
In total 130 people participated. Sarrell Dental Center was prominently featured on PBS Frontline in their 2012 documentary, “Dollars and Dentists.” Sarrell was applauded for its work with Alabama’s Medicaid and SCHIP children.
Since Sarrell Dental’s inception, they have had over 400,000 patient visits and never had a patient complaint filed against them with the Alabama Dental Board. Sarrell Dental Center has reduced its average reimbursement rate per patient visit from $328 in 2005 to an industry low of $125 last year, thus reducing cost to American taxpayers.
This event is part of the National Oral Health Conference being held April 22-24 in Huntsville.
