Community “Run For Boston” Planned Sunday in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)– Fleet Feet Sports, The Huntsville Track Club, We Run Huntsville, Team Rocket Tri and First Place Athletics are inviting the community to a run, walk, picnic. The aim is to honor those affected by the tragedy at the Boston Marathon Monday.
The free run/walk will begin at the Hampton Cove Greenway at 2pm Sunday and take the Running of the Bulls course with a community potluck picnic to follow.
Organizers say this is not only a way to show support but also a way to collectively say “we won’t stop.”
“It’s about coming together at this time and just the support,” says Fleet Feet Sports marketing manager Jill Hadley, who participated in Monday’s Boston Marathon. “Just knowing that we can move forward from this and we don’t want it to hurt the actual sport of running, that we can move beyond what the bombers did.”
The first 200 participants will receive a free “I Love Boston” T-shirt.
