HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – DHS Systems LLC is planning to relocate its shelter manufacturing and certain management positions from Orangeburg, New York and all of its business development positions from Crestview, Florida to Huntsville later this year.
The relocation will bring approximately 110 senior and mid-level management, supervisory, and hourly employee jobs to north Alabama, drawing most of the new employees from the Huntsville, Decatur, and Athens areas.
To support this relocation, the DHS Systems has recently acquired a new 130,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the Southpoint Industrial Park, which will complement its existing adjacent 130,000 square foot manufacturing facility, which has been operating since 2007. This move represents a doubling of the company’s employee count and manufacturing footprint in the area.
The new facility will support shelter manufacturing, business development, and customer support functions while the existing facility will support trailer manufacturing, global logistics, management, and research and development functions.
“Since we opened our first facility in Huntsville six years ago, we have been very pleased with the high quality of the personnel we attracted and have appreciated the support of the state and local community,” said Jon Prusmack, the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer.
“The relocation of these activities and functions to North Alabama represents an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of our business through consolidation, increased coordination of our manufacturing activities, and the co-location of our research, development, business development activities with the production of our products,” said Prusmack.
DHS Systems’ primary product is the Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelter, or DRASH, a quick erect/strike shelter system that integrates shelter, mobility, lighting, heating, cooling and power distribution in one flexible package to form a command post. DHS Systems also offers a full line of emergency medical products and accessories through its Reeves EMS brand, including CBRNE systems and equipment and patient movement equipment.
