NORTH COURTLAND, Ala. (WHNT) – Just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, volunteer fire departments from North Courtland, Courtland and Town Creek responded to a fire in the 1000-block of James Avenue in North Courtland.

Crews on the scene say smoke was coming from the living room. That room had heavy fire damage, and there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. Authorities say the cause may have been electrical.

Five adults and two children lived there. They’re displaced until the fire damage can be repaired.
