Hospice Family Care To Hold Event For Veterans
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Hospice Family Care, the only non-profit hospice care provider in Madison County, is working to improve care for veterans facing end-of-life issues.
Susan Bowen, representative for Hospice Family Care, said the organization will hold a special event April 17 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Hospice Family Care, located at 3304 Westmill Drive in Huntsville. Patients and family members are welcome. For additional information and to register, call (256) 650-1212.
The word ‘hospice’ often makes us think a person is days from dying. That’s not true.
To be hospice eligible, you must have a prognosis of six months or less. Bowen said Hospice Family Care comes in and serves the family and lets them know about what will happen. The caregivers and families are also part of who hospice serves. The goal is to be there for the last several months in order to provide comfort care, whether it be for the patient’s pain, or spiritual care for the family.
