MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - The problem was on a stretch of busy Winchester Road in Madison County. Just north of Bell Factory Road, the white lines marking the road's edge were gone. "What's happening, the road is deteriorating on the side, and there's not a white line there. So at night, when it's raining, it's absolutely blind," said James Cumming.
James originally contacted us about the problem with the lines. He says the road is a problem because it's busy, and the stretch without the white-painted edge lines includes a hill and a curve. You depend on the white lines, said James. "Because cars coming the other way, right there it's a dark area and everybody will put on their bright lights and it just plain blinds you," according to James.
The white edge lines are in place for driver safety, so we took action and discussed the problem with Madison County Commissioner Roger Jones. He quickly responded, and the lines were painted. Not only that, the yellow lines in the center of the road, also got a fresh coat of paint.
"I can guarantee you that you probably saved lives in the future on that stretch of road. Man, you did a great job," says James Cumming. What we did was take action on a viewers concern, and get it fixed. That's the result we're always after!
