Charger Trio Honored By Division II Bulletin

Huntsville, Ala. – The Division II Bulletin announced its men’s basketball All-America teams on Monday, and UAH was represented by second-team honoree Jaime Smith and honorable mention selection Zane Campbell along with Wayne Dedrick who earned a position on the Freshman All-America squad.

Smith landed on the list for the second consecutive year after earning GSC Player of the Year status while ranking second in the conference in scoring with 18.5 points per game, and he led the conference in free throw percentage, 3-point field goals made, and assists. The Birmingham, Ala., native ended his UAH career third in scoring in program history with 1,980 points.

Owner of the second-best field goal percentage in the GSC this season at 54.7 percent, Campbell finished his time in Huntsville with 1,640 points and 631 rebounds to sit fourth all-time in the UAH record books in both categories.

Both Smith and Campbell played in the Division II All-Star Game this past Friday at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.

Dedrick – who was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year – finished the season second on the team in scoring with nearly 13 points per game as he registered a 3-point field goal percentage of 42.5 percent which ranked second in the GSC.

The Division II Bulletin All-America teams consist of four teams made up of five players each, and the only other South Region play selected was Saint Leo’s Marcus Ruh who was a third-team honoree.
