Firefighters battle flames after the home exploded. (WHNT)

ELKMONT, Ala. (WHNT) – An explosion in a Limestone County home late Wednesday afternoon sent two people to the hospital and sparked a blaze that completely destroyed one home.  The fire happened on Mooresville Road at the intersection of Putnam Circle.

Firefighters say the house was completely engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Two elderly people inside the home were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
