Organizers Say ‘No Plans’ For 2013 Huntsville Sidewalk Arts Stroll
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Sidewalk Arts Stroll is described as a vibrant arts market place celebrating creativity, community and commerce with varied handcrafted selections to suit every taste and fit every budget. But stroll organizers say local vendors and artisans will have to find a new creative and business outlet for the time being.
Art Stroll organizers Dianne Burch and Donna Castellano confirmed with WHNT News 19 Thursday they had notified participating vendors they were not planning an arts stroll for the 2013 season.
Donna Castellano says despite the stroll hiatus she has every intention of bringing back the event for 2014. Castellano agreed to issue a formal statement Friday that would provide more information about the art stroll cancellation.
“I am disappointed to say the least,” says artist and vendor Brenna Burgiel of Radiant Shade. “Art Stroll was a great way of bringing the community together. The arts and crafts market atmosphere made downtown Huntsville feel current and connected to the ongoing handmade revolution. I hope that they can regroup for 2014.”
“No issues with downtown businesses affected this decision,” says Castellano. ”The only comments we’ve had from downtown businesses are requests for more art strolls.”
