Fire Marshal Investigates Suspicious Fire in DeKalb County
GROVE OAK, Ala. (WHNT) — A DeKalb County man and two children are receiving treatment at a Birmingham hospital after an overnight house fire near Fyffe.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s investigators said the the fire started around 2:45 Thursday morning at a house on County Road 9092 in the Grove Oak community.
The homeowner and two children, who are about 8- and 15-years-old, got out of the house, but deputies said they suffered injuries from smoke inhalation.
A first responder said skin on the tip of one of the children’ nose was peeling from a burn.
Flames destroyed the home and investigators said the fire is suspicious. The Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office and the DeKalb County Major Crimes Unit are working the case.
