HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Hospital and Chapman Sisson Architects released a sketch of the elevated walkway that will connect Huntsville Hospital to the $100 million Twickenham Square development.

The Huntsville Planning Commission approved the bridge’s location and design on Feb. 26.

Huntsville Hospital will pay the city $99 to lease the air rights above the intersection for 99 years. The hospital plans to move its clinical laboratory to the third floor of the new office tower.

The site near Huntsville Hospital will have a Publix grocery store, Homewood Suites hotel, new office space and residential housing. Developers say there is space for up to four new restaurants and other retail shops.

Twickenham Square will cover 11.3 acres at the former Councill Courts public housing site in the heart of the medical district.
