UPDATE: Three Charged With Rape; Two Are UNA Football Players

FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – Three men, including two University of North Alabama football players, are now charged with the rape of a female student over the weekend.

D’Anthony Juqua Byrd, Deanbre Alexander Harrison and Eddrick Harris are charged with rape.

UNA Police Chief Bob Pastula said a female student went to visit Harrison at Rivers Hall on Saturday night. The girl said Byrd and Harrison took turns forcing themselves on her. Florence Police also arrested Harris late Monday, and said he also participated in the act.

A friend took the girl to a hospital for treatment.

Harrison and Harris are listed as UNA football players. WHNT News 19 contacted the University of North Alabama about the matter.

“These are very serious charges,” said UNA Athletics Director Mark Linder. “We have and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement.”
