Daylight Saving Time

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)– Daylight Saving Time will begin Sunday morning at two.  At that hour, it will instantly become 3 a.m. as we “spring forward.”

Many people now use their cell phones for clocks, which will update automatically.   However, if you still have an old fashioned alarm clock, you’ll want to run it forward one hour before bed if you don’t want to be late for church.

Many people do not like Daylight Saving Time because you lose an hour of sleep.  There is also some evidence that it is not good for your health.  A Swedish study found that heart attack rates increase by five percent the week after Daylight Saving Time begins each year.   The same study found that heart attack rates decrease by five percent when Daylight Saving Time ends in November.  A lack of sleep is blamed for the increase.

Daylight Saving Time will end on November 3rd when we will “fall back.”
