Havoc Shutout Cottonmouths 1-0

Huntsville, Ala. - Dan McWhinney did not allow a goal in a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths.

Nick Lazorko's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 5:40 in the second period.  Mike Gurtler picked up the assist.

Huntsville pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Havoc put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Columbus to score on any of its seven power plays. Huntsville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 19.7 shots per game it averages.

The Cottonmouths stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Columbus could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Cottonmouths average 2.7 goals per game. Columbus put 50 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.4 it averages per game.

The Cottonmouths were led by Sam Bowles, who took six shots.

Dan McWhinney made 50 saves for Huntsville on 50 shots. The Havoc registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.  Andrew Loewen rejected 38 shots on goal for Columbus. The Cottonmouths incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
