Fire Claims Lawrence County Home

SPEAKE, Ala. (WHNT) – Fire destroyed a home in the Speake community of Lawrence County this afternoon. A passerby noticed smoke coming from the house and alerted fire fighters.

The house is located on Highway 36, just west of Danville in Lawrence County.

Firefighters say the blaze spread from one end of the house to the other once flames got into the attic. The house was a total loss, despite the best efforts of several volunteer fire departments.

No word yet on what sparked the fire. There were no injuries.
