Car & Train Collide in Athens; No One Hurt

ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – There has been a car-train accident in Athens. There are no reported injuries. A truck reportedly pulled up too close to the tracks and took a glancing blow by a passing train.

The train stopped for more than an hour while Athens Police and CSX Railroad investigators examined the scene. Most of the downtown crossings in Athens were blocked, snarling rush-hour traffic in several places..

Athens Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene to clean up a small fluid spill at the scene, described as antifreeze.
