Madison County Court Date Set For Convicted Murderer

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The man accused of six murders in Lincoln County, Tennessee and in Huntsville has a new court date in Madison County.

Jacob Shaffer will be arraigned on March 8 at 9:00 a.m. at the Madison County Courthouse.

Shaffer is already serving a life sentence in Tennessee for killing five people in July 2009 but he still has to face a capital murder trial in Madison County.

Shaffer is accused of beating Sidney Dempsey to death in Huntsville.  Investigators say Shaffer killed Dempsey in Huntsville and then hitched a ride to Lincoln County, Tennessee where he killed his estranged wife, members of her family and a family friend.

He is currently being held in the Huntsville-Madison County Metro jail.
